How can students collect their work in a meaningful way over the course of a unit, quarter, semester, year? How can they keep track of the work so that they can return to it, reflect on it, reuse it? How can we as teachers design ways to honor the process of a class project? How can we avoid task-oriented work in our classes? In this episode, we tackle these questions through exploring the power of the portfolio. We first dig into why you may want to introduce a portfolio system in your class in the first place and then move to answering some key questions that teachers have asked us about using portfolios. We end the webcast like we always do – hacking the idea and imagining several different kinds of portfolios that you could keep and why they would be useful. Below you’ll find resources that we reference in the episode. Take and manipulate at will! Also, get in touch with us with questions you have. We’d love to hear from you.
